I Need a Job

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-12

This verse speaks of different offices with different functions. First we notice that it is God who gave these various types of offices. Second, we can see that the purpose of these offices is to collectively work together to build up the body of Christ by equipping the believers. All of them are equal, and not one of them is greater than the other. Each of them plays a very important role in the ministry that God gave to the church. This verse reminds us that God has given each of us the ability to contribute to the growth of the church. God wants us to work together hand in hand to build up the body of Christ. In order to do that, we need to teach and train the believers in the work of the ministry. - Commentary by: Jeremy B. Trio

Today's Prayer

Lord, use me under Your grace and power to be part of the great work You have left for us here on earth. Help me Lord to discover my skills and abilities, so that I can apply it to a specific ministry that You want me to do. Amen.

It's mid-week and a few days to go before the weekend. How about calling a friend for a lunch date? It might just be the encouragement you need to get through the rest of the week. Who knows maybe your friend is in need of your call too.

God bless,
David

Unity and the Gospel

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"He will turn the hearts of parents to their children and the hearts of children to their parents, so that I will not come and strike the land with a curse." - Malachi 4:6

The last note that God leaves the world for four hundred years is His desire for unity in the home. The family was His first institution. It was God's commanded place of education. It was the treasured unit that He would send His Son into. Yet, it is often broken by disputes, gossip, disobedience, and a mismanagement of resources or situations. Children's hearts are in the hands of peers, teachers, and media. And father's hearts are in the hands of weekend entertainment, their careers, and any other escape they can run to in order to avoid dissatisfaction with their own lives. This distorted lifestyle is not pleasing to God. The family that is divided against itself is separated from Christ, with each member looking after only themselves and neglecting the love that Christ came to give us. Does your family reflect God's values of unity, or is it divided? - Commentary by: Steffanie Howard

Today's Prayer

Lord, please show me the ways in which I am dividing my family from each other and from You. Please help me to break from destructive routines and bring my family back together. Amen.

Sincere Love

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth, so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart." – 1 Peter 1:22

This is one of my favorite verses in scripture. It was the verse that confirmed to me that I would marry my wife one day and it changed my entire outlook on life. While the NRSV uses genuine mutual love, the NIV uses sincere love. That word sincere has always struck a chord with me, for some reason it really resonates with my heart. The second part that really spoke to me was "love each other deeply, with all your heart." To me, that is what being a Christian is all about, being sincere by loving others deeply. I always thought that was what Jesus did as a man and I desire to live up to that in my life even today. Don't give into the temptations of the world, instead seek ways to embrace sincere love. - Commentary by: Matthew J. Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, we know that life isn't easy to work through, but we also know that Your sincere love is a wonderful example to live by. Today, I pray that You will show me how I can be more obedient to Your truths. Amen.

I just talked with Jackie Beiriger, and she wants you to know how much she appreciates all of the prayers and donations that you have sent her way through her "Go Fund Me" account (see link below.) You are all so amazing, and she sends a big thank you out to all of you. And all of us here at "The Gospel Daily," want you to know how uplifting your generous gifts have been. We appreciate each and everyone of you.  You're the best!

God bless and have a great week!

Not by Bread Alone

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"But he answered, 'It is written, One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Matthew 4:4

This verse contains Jesus' response to Satan's first temptation to Him in the wilderness. Satan wanted Him to turn the stones to bread in order to survive the hunger. But Jesus responded by using the scriptures. "Not by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God." This means that God's word is essential for daily living just like the bread. The bread represents our daily needs which are essential for sustenance and survival. Without the word of God, men will not survive especially when it comes to the salvation of their souls. It is in God's word that we can find divine and powerful providence for mankind to survive and be saved from sin. So let us spend more time to meditate and study God's word. - Commentary by Jeremy B. Trio

Today's Prayer

Lord, one of Your greatest provisions for mankind is the Bible which contains Your word. Thank You for giving us Your word. Help me to develop my interest and to spend more quality time studying it, and then applying the principles in my life. Amen.
