The Strength of the Word of the Lord

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"But, his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night." - Psalms 1:2

Have you ever bought furniture that has to be assembled? You open the box, and there are thousands of pieces that must be put together. There is usually an instruction sheet that contains a detailed guide with pictures. However, unless you are a gifted handyman, this probably doesn't make much difference. The journey of life is sort of like that box of furniture pieces. It is a jumbled conglomerate of different pathways that require guidance. However, the one and only true guide book for the journey in the word of the Lord. His words are truth and provide real direction and victory. When you keep it in your heart, it will bring you delight and show you the path for your footsteps. He will then walk with you every step of the way. – Commentary by Lisa M. Leto

Today's Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your word and for the light of Your love that comes through it. It will be the guide for my journey forever. Amen.

It's been another record breaking week of new members! All of us here at, The Gospel Daily, feel blessed that we can help facilitate a closer relationship with God and HIS Word.

God’s Wrath or Man’s?

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"But they did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. When his disciples James and John saw it, they said, "Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?" But he turned and rebuked them." - Luke 9:53-55

Many people view God as inherently wrathful and vengeful, but this is not an accurate view of God. You will hear people say sometimes, "This or that natural disaster happened as God's judgment on those people." However, if this were true, wouldn't all of us be caught up in natural disasters all the time? God sent Jesus, not to bring God's wrath, but to bring salvation from wrath. Jesus took God's just wrath on Himself, because He wanted to show mercy on sinners. The same is true today. He wants us to proclaim the way of salvation to those who are actively sinning, not tell them that they deserve whatever hardship they may be going through. Let us not misrepresent Christ, the one who took God's wrath on Himself, but rather have compassion and mercy. – Commentary by Traci Elliott

Today's Prayer

Dear God, forgive us when we have been ready to, "call down fire," on others instead of having compassion and mercy. Thank You for Your merciful forgiveness for each one of us. Help all people to know that You have provided a means to escape wrath and that You are waiting with open arms, not condemnation. Amen.

Slipping Away

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"As my life was slipping away, I remembered the Lord. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy temple." – Jonah 2:7

There will always be moments when you feel as if your life is slipping away. In this chapter, Jonah shares a good example with us. When Jonah disobeyed God's command, he ended up in the belly of a giant fish; his life was slipping away. Just as Jonah reached out to God in his time of need, we too can do the same. Truthfully, God longs for us to reach out to Him in all things. You may be facing a situation presently that has given you a feeling of slipping away. Stop and Pray. Give God the opportunity to hear your earnest prayer. Trust that even though it seems as though everything around you is falling apart that God is with you. He will guide you back into His loving arms if you let Him. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, thank You that even though my world seems to fall apart at times that I can put my trust in You. Help me to do this more often in my life. Amen.
