When you’re Angry at God

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?"- Psalm 10:1

There are times in many people's lives when tragedy, hardship, or seeing the evil in the world makes them angry. Sometimes that anger gets turned to God. How could He allow this? If He's so good, why do these things happen? Honestly, I don't think that expressing anger is a bad thing. God is truth and I don't think He faults us when we are honest about our feelings. King David in the Bible often brought his complaints to God. In fact, many of them became scripture—what we see in the Psalms. So, the next time you feel angry about something that has happened, bring it to God. He can handle your questions! It's better when we give it to God because He listens and He cares; He can replace your anger with peace. - Commentary by: Traci Elliott

Today's Prayer

Thank You, Father, for hearing us even when we don't understand and turn our anger toward You. Help us to let You replace our anger with Your peace and trust. Amen. Commentary by: Traci Elliott

Good Grief

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:(1) a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance." - Psalm 3:1, 3:4

The loss of a loved one can be so devastating and unbearable at times that you wonder if you are ever going to be able to come out from under all the grief. Chances are you're feeling very alone, right now. People who haven't suffered a great loss don't know the gut wrenching despair you're going through. It's like being in a big dark pit and you don't see any light at all. Chances are you're thinking it is always going to be like this. It may seem like everyone around you is living their life and all you're doing is existing. The thing about grief is, it is necessary. You know that big mountain that is in front of you that represents grief? You more than likely wish you could jump over it somehow and be done with all the heartache. Unfortunately grief doesn't work like that. You need to slowly climb the mountain with the assurance that you can reach the summit and then climb down the other side. I know this because God is with us always. He will bring you comfort and hope. He will climb that mountain of grief right alongside of you and safely see you to the other side. Grief is temporary. The Lord is forever. All you need to do is call on Him and He will hold your hand the whole way. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

Today's Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are such a blessing to me. I pray for all the hurting people that are entrenched in grief and despair; that You will carry them through the loneliness and hurting to the other side of living. Amen.

I Need Help

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"Indeed, just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the son gives life to whomever he wishes." – John 5:21

Have you ever felt as though everyone was fighting against you and that no one was standing with you in your time of need? Here is something to think about: God, the Father can do anything, and He is continually standing beside us as problems come our way. While this scripture is often thought of literally, there is another way to be encouraged by this passage. In the midst of our struggles, God comes to bring life both physically and spiritually. It may appear as though no one is with you at this point in time, but someone is and that someone is Jesus. Trust in that promise and be encouraged by the life that He can give you in the midst of your suffering. Jesus brings life in many ways, all we have to do is look for it. - Commentary by: Matthew j. Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, I know that You are always with me and I know that You do indeed bring life in many different forms. Help me to see that more in the world around me. Amen.
