The God Who Provides

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"If we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself." - 2 Timothy 2:13

You don't have to be a Christian for long before you see how incredibly faithful God is to us! However, it also seems like it doesn't take long for us to forget the many ways He is faithful to us. It seems with each difficulty or need that arises, panic sets in and we worry about where the money will come from or how we can possibly get through each trial. God comes through in the end, but it can become a cycle, forgetting each time and letting worry and fear get the better of us. God shows His faithfulness even in this, because He doesn't abandon us in our time of need. But, God has something better for us—His peace! The next time a need arises, try to remember the faithfulness of God and be confident knowing that He will come through for you. – Commentary by Traci Elliott

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your never ending faithfulness even when we are not faithful to You! Help us to rest in Your peace always, keeping Your faithfulness at the forefront of our minds. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you members for all of your love and support; we couldn't do it without each and every one of you. Until next week, have a blessed weekend.

Take Care,
David

The Sea of Consequence

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"Pick me up and throw me into the sea," he replied, "and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come for you." – Jonah 1:12

There are times when we need to take responsibility for our actions. The story of Jonah is a good book to read when seeking to understand this concept. Why? Well, because Jonah had to learn to do the same. He was chosen by God for a specific task and instead of embracing it, he ran the complete opposite direction. Sometimes God calls us to specific tasks as well. We too, have to embrace that calling and if we don't we must be willing to face the consequences. Jonah was terrified of those that lived in Nineveh and he was also really angry at them as well. Having to choose between following God and overcoming our own personal issues can lead us into the stormy sea of consequence, but when we trust God we will overcome our personal vendettas. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, I know that sometimes I let my personal feelings get the better of me and that this can lead me in the wrong direction. Teach me to accept what You have in store for me. Amen.

What is God Like?

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" –Matthew 7:11

Have you ever wondered what God is like? While there is much about God that we cannot comprehend, there are some things that the Bible does tell us. In the Bible, God is pictured as a father, a husband, and a friend, among other things. Perhaps God has given us human relationships in part to understand what He is like and how He loves us. Being a father, mother, spouse, or friend can give us a glimpse into a different aspect of God. Could it also be that Christian fellowship is important so that we can share in each other's experiences and through that have a deeper understanding of God? While some of us may not have the opportunity to experience the love of a spouse or the joy of parenthood, each of us have unique experiences that help us understand God better. – Commentary by Traci Elliott

Today's Prayer

Holy Father, thank You for the many ways that You reveal yourself to us. Help us to dig more deeply into Your Word and fellowship with each other, so that we can have a deeper understanding and relationship with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
