No Greater Love

Today's Verse "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." – John 15:13 It's easy to say things and make big promises. It's easy to say, "I love you," but not really show it in our actions. Jesus' words are powerful in and of themselves. They reveal deep truths that aren't just empty words. However, not even Jesus thought that His words alone were enough. Instead, He showed us His love was true by doing what He said. Jesus didn't just love us from afar, He laid down His own life and proved His love was genuine. That is why it is called "Good" Friday. A horribly dark day was made good by the perfect love sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf. Meditate on the truth of His love for you and find ways to demonstrate that love to others. - Commentary by: Traci Elliott Today's Prayer Jesus, thank You for the perfect love that You have given us. Fill our hearts with this love and help us to speak it and demonstrate it to others. Amen. Today is Good Friday, when we commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It's a good time to think about how Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross for us. Giver of Strength

Today's Verse "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13 This verse tells us of Apostle Paul's personal testimony to the Philippian believers. He said that he can do all things through the Lord Jesus Christ who gives him strength. The phrase "all things" means that He can do all things that God wants him to do because Christ strengthened him. He used the word strengthen because according to the context of this verse, Paul was talking about his day to day needs. So even if he lacks food or he is in poverty, he is confident that Christ will strengthen him to do the task God commissioned him to do. This reminds us that we should not let weariness and discouragement hinder our service to God. Jesus Christ, will be there to strengthen us not only in times of hunger but also in times of weariness and discouragements. - Commentary by: Jeremy B. Are You Thirsty?

Today's Verse "For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your offspring." - Isaiah 44:3 Have you ever had a chance to travel by farm land as they are watering? They have this big, elaborate sprinkler system that cascades fountain streams of water to thirsty plants. This enriches the plants and helps them to grow, eventually providing substance for America's dinner tables. When you serve the Lord, and live the Christian life, His beautiful blessing becomes real. It is like a beautiful refreshing fountain of life that pours upon you in ways large and small. It quenches your soul and spirit, and provides provisions that uplift you. So, if you don't think that the Lord is moving mightily in your life, think again.
