Searching for God

Today's Verse

"Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the beach; but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus." – John 21:4

Have you ever seen someone you knew but couldn't remember who they were or why you knew them? There have been moments in my life when I have recognized someone visually but not internally. I believe this feeling is similar to that of the disciples when they saw Jesus on the shoreline the morning this story in history took place. Just as the disciples found difficulty in identifying God, we sometimes do too. The other day there was this commercial on social media about a little boy who left home one morning to search for God. On his search, he finds himself sharing a Twinkie snack cake with an elderly woman. When the commercial ends, both the boy and the elderly woman tell their friends they unexpectedly saw God today. It's an amazing thing, seeing God in unexpected places, isn't it? - Commentary by: Matthew J. Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father, sometimes we get so caught up in the world around us that we miss those special moments when You reveal Yourself to us over sharing a moment with someone we just met or on a shoreline like the disciples. As we live our lives help us recognize You better. Amen.

Many of us have trust issues, but this video and story shows us that there are all kinds of trust. The word "precious" comes to mind too. Enjoy!

God bless,
David

Doubt No More

Today's Verse

"In the beginning when God created] the heavens and the earth," - Genesis 1:1

Have you experienced doubting the existence of God after you became a Christian? My honest answer for this question is yes. There have been quite a few times that I doubted God because of trials and challenges that seem to be insoluble. There had been times also where the enemy whispered lies to me. But as I pondered upon the Word of God, the source of truth, I regained my faith and I doubted no more. This verse is the frontline of God's Word. If we receive this statement as heartily true, then we can rest in life knowing that the God we believe in is real and mighty in power, as He created new things out of nothing. As we take a look at our surroundings, you will see evidence of a supreme creator: the galaxy, universe, solar system and the living things found in the planet we live on. The Bible affirms this to be true. Open your hearts to this truth and don't give the enemy a chance to deceive you. - Commentary by Dionivie Tacder

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word that continues to battle against the lies of Satan. Thank you for affirming them through the work of the Holy Spirit. I commit to You my unbelief and turn it into an unwavering faith toward You. Help me to experience Your blessings and doubt You no more. In Jesus name. Amen!

I want to thank each and everyone of you for spending time with us each day via our daily emails and social media network. With your support, you help us bring inspiration and encouragement throughout the world with God's Word.

In gratitude,
David

Our Words and Actions

Today's Verse

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom." - James 3:13

Actions speak louder than words, the old saying goes. In this section of scripture James is writing about the power of the tongue. A small member, he says, but with immense power. The width and breadth of our incredibly rich and varied languages is one of humanity's defining characteristics. With only a few choice words we can lift the spirits of co-workers having a rough day, or utterly demoralize a friend who is having a great day. Words can pull people out of pits of despair or plunge them into one. This verse reminds us to be consistent with our words and our actions. When we walk through the office all day oozing kindness and gentleness in the name of Christ, then gossip and malign our bosses in the breakroom we leave people confused. When we're inconsistent, people will question our motives and won't trust us. Then, when we claim to follow Christ, they won't understand what that means. James exhorts us here, to not just say that we follow Jesus with our words, but to show it with a consistent life. Let's be sure our actions match our words. - Commentary by Stephen Proctor

Today's Prayer

Lord, as we go through our day, help us captivate our own minds and direct our thoughts, so that our actions line up with our words. We want to be people who seek Your wisdom so that by our lives there can be no question about our allegiance to You. Amen.

If you want to send us a message to let us know how we are doing, just reply to this email. We would love to hear from you.

God bless,
David
