Cause for Rejoicing

Today's Verse "They offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. The joy of Jerusalem was heard far away." - Nehemiah 12:43 This verse speaks of Jerusalem's great celebration and worship. They offered great sacrifices and the entire nation rejoiced. God caused them to rejoice and God is the reason why they rejoiced. From the Babylonian Captivity up to Persian Captivity, Jerusalem had been through a lot of problems, plus the walls of the city of Jerusalem had been torn down and the gate was burned (Nehemiah 1:3.) God helped Nehemiah to rebuild the walls. But it was never an easy task for Nehemiah. Enemies tried to stop them but God's grace and faithfulness prevailed. The walls were finished and the entire city was restored. We too, may go through a lot of problems and trials, but at the end of it all, we can testify that God is faithful. Therefore, we have reason to thank Him and worship Him. - Commentary by: Jeremy B. Trio Today's Prayer Lord, thank You because You are faithful. Restoration of Your Soul

Today's Verse "He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him." - John 1:7 Have you ever watched a house restoration project whether in person or on television? It's really an interesting endeavor. Gifted craftsmen take an old run down house and foresee great things within its walls. They then combine their incredible talents to restore life and beauty better than ever before. The finished product is truly a breathtaking sight. When we come into the presence of God and the light of His great love, we are run down vessels. We are worn out, and overcome by sin, life, and the cares of this world. Yet, Jesus the Master Craftsman sees great things in us. It is through His perfect blood that we are cleansed of all of our sins and our burdens are lifted. He gives us fellowship with other believers, strengthens and restores us to be His breathtaking new masterpiece in which He is greatly pleased. - Commentary by: Lisa M. His Glorious Joy

Today's Verse "Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with and indescribable and glorious joy, for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls." – 1 Peter 1:8-9 This chapter, in 1 Peter, has always been a favorite one of mine. It is a great reminder that joy is everywhere if we are looking for it. It is a perfect reminder that through Him we receive a great and powerful faith. We receive salvation for our souls through embracing His loving arms. There are always times when we are going to want to see where God is at work in our lives and we can't. Sometimes God's plan is just hard to see and sometimes God Himself is just hard to see. However there is always one gift that we can see and it comes in many different forms. In a smile, in giving a helping hand, or even in the weather. That gift is His glorious joy. - Commentary by: Matthew J. Elliott Today's Prayer Father God, I long for Your spirit of joy in my life.
