Unrepentant Heart

Today's Verse

"One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!" But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong." Luke 23:39 - 41

This verse tells us about the crucifixion of Jesus with the two thieves beside Him. One of them challenged the Lord to show His power by setting them free from their situation. The other thief rebuked Him and said to Him that they deserve to be punished because of their sin, but this man is innocent. This tells us that a repentant heart is a heart that is willing to accept full responsibility for their sin including its punishment. Let us not be like the second thief who only wants to escape punishment. Let us be like the one who willingly accepted the cross as the right punishment for His sins. So instead of blaming others or using reasoning to get out from guilt and punishment, admit that you are wrong and repent. - Commentary by Jeremy B. Trio

Today's Prayer

Lord, help me to take responsibility for my mistakes and sin. I'm sorry if I blame others and try to cover my sin to escape from its punishment. Thank you because you are always willing to forgive me whenever I confess my sins to you. Amen.

Let's continue to pray for all the people who are dealing with natural disasters this season that has caused so much devastation. I'm including a LINK to an article on all the different ways you can help those affected by these tragedies.

God Bless,
David
