True Neighborly Love

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"He said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" – Matthew 22:37-39

Love is often spoken of, but I wonder sometimes whether most people know what true love is. In 1 Corinthians 13, there is a deeper definition of love, and I encourage you to read it. To sum it up though, I think we can define love as "genuinely looking out for the best interest of others." It's easy to talk about love and to look at the world and think, "we should love each other more." But, what are we going to do about it? Are we going to genuinely look out for the best interests of those we disagree with or those who get on our nerves? How about all the people we come in contact with each day? Be intentional about loving those around you. Pay attention to the needs of others and make the most of every opportunity to love "your neighbor." - Commentary by: Traci Elliott

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, teach us to love more truly and empower us to follow through on it. Amen.

We, at "The Gospel Daily" have a friend, Jackie Beiriger, who is going through a very difficult time. In 2015, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then as she was recovering she found out she had bladder cancer. As you can imagine the bills are huge and adding up fast. We would love for you to check out her story (links below,) and if at all possible make a donation. I know Jackie and Jim would be so grateful, and we would too.

God Bless you,
David
