"So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit." – Acts 13:51-52
Many times in the New Testament we see phrases like the one shared in today's passage. The question that has often come up is, why? Why did they shake the dust off their feet and move on to the next city? Well, here is what it comes down to. It is meant to remind us that sometimes the message we are given to share will not be accepted. Luke, the author of Acts, shares with us what Jesus shared with His disciples. Sometimes we can try and try to share a message with another, about God's love, with no success. When those moments come we can either let the dust stay on our feet or shake it off and give that person back to God. Remember, sometimes a heart is so hardened that only God can soften it. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott
Today's Prayer
Father, God, sometimes it can be difficult to share Your message with those around us. Help us not to let that rejection get the best of us and then to give that situation back to You. Amen.
