Today's Verse

Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! – Psalm 27:14

Most people don't like waiting for things. We live in an 'instant' society that doesn't promote patience, instead encouraging us to go after what we want and get it. The world tells us that time waits for no man and that to sit back and wait means you miss out on what you want. But God's Word tells us clearly, time and again, to wait. To stop, pause, listen and wait on God. We want what we want, but is it the best thing for us? Will our actions and desires glorify God? God doesn't tell us to wait for the sake of it. He knows exactly what is happening in our life, He knows our pain and frustration and desires, and He wants to help and guide us. David was a man of action and knew how hard it was to wait on God, but he also knew how faithful God was, so he reminds us to stop and wait. He encourages us to be strong in the waiting, to be courageous and not lose hope because God always comes through. He promised to never leave us or forsake us, and He is faithful. When you are feeling discouraged or are ready to go it alone, remember that God is still working. He hasn't forgotten you and He is for you, so take courage and wait on Him! – Commentary by Leila Halawe

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, we know that You see all things and know all things and have our best interests in heart. We thank you that You are always working things together for our good and we ask for your guidance and peace as we stop and wait on Your instruction. Amen.
