Today's Verse

"But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." - James 1:22

Everyone's heard the saying, "actions speak louder than words" well that's what living in Christ is all about. We read God's word and act upon it. Earlier in this chapter James shares several examples of what this actually entails. In verse 19, he reminds us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry. God desires that we stay true to His word and in order to do so we must be purely motivated by a heart that is seeking His. We can say, "Yeah, I will do that," and that is great, but if we do not act upon what we've committed to with our words, we are truly fooling ourselves. Our intentions should be pure, but we must take the next step and act, do so today. - Matthew Elliott
