Overcome the Pain

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"See, I have refined you, but not like silver; I have tested you in the furnace of adversity. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for why should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another." – Isaiah 48:10-11

Have you ever wondered why we have to deal with adversity, or why bad things happen? That answer is not the easiest answer to understand, but it does reveal some pretty amazing things. In this part of Isaiah 48, we are given a glimpse of that answer. Adversity or suffering, is something that is the result of sin, but God can take those unwanted experiences and use them to bring glory to His name. While not the preferred way of learning something about ourselves; those unwanted experiences can teach us many things. When adversity strikes, we can either let it consume us or we can give it to God and let Him shine through it. God can use just about anything bad and turn it into something fantastically good. It's up to us to choose to let Him use it or not. - Commentary by Matthew J. Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, I know that adversity is all around me. Today, I pray that when it strikes, I will be able to overcome the pain it may cause and honor you through it. Teach me to be an over comer. Amen.
