Cause for Rejoicing

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"They offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. The joy of Jerusalem was heard far away." - Nehemiah 12:43

This verse speaks of Jerusalem's great celebration and worship. They offered great sacrifices and the entire nation rejoiced. God caused them to rejoice and God is the reason why they rejoiced. From the Babylonian Captivity up to Persian Captivity, Jerusalem had been through a lot of problems, plus the walls of the city of Jerusalem had been torn down and the gate was burned (Nehemiah 1:3.) God helped Nehemiah to rebuild the walls. But it was never an easy task for Nehemiah. Enemies tried to stop them but God's grace and faithfulness prevailed. The walls were finished and the entire city was restored. We too, may go through a lot of problems and trials, but at the end of it all, we can testify that God is faithful. Therefore, we have reason to thank Him and worship Him. - Commentary by: Jeremy B. Trio
