Today's Verse

"A fool gives full vent to anger, but the wise quietly holds it back." - Proverbs 29:11

Sometimes my kids make me so angry and frustrated. Their whining and bickering gets on my last nerve and I feel like there's nothing left to do but explode. However, my yelling only serves to make matters worse. While you may feel that you can't control your frustration any longer, the Bible says that this is foolish and it's not hard to see why. The results of letting your emotions take over are usually harmful to you and others. The question is what do we do when anger starts to get to the boiling point? When you first start to feel the emotions rising, try removing yourself from the situation. Take a moment alone to calm yourself down and figure out an alternative way to deal with the situation without giving, "full vent to anger." - Commentary by: Traci Elliott

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, it's so hard to hold back when my emotions start to take over. Please give me self-control, patience, gentleness, and wisdom to know how to hold back. In Jesus' name, Amen.
