Consequence for Disobedience

Gospel Template

Today's Verse

"For the Israelites travelled forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, the warriors who came out of Egypt, perished, not having listened to the voice of the Lord. To them the Lord swore that he would not let them see the land that he had sworn to their ancestors to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey." - Joshua 5:6

The Lord commanded Joshua to circumcise a new generation of Israelites, because He did not allow the generation of Israelites from Egypt who disobeyed and rebelled against the Him to enter the promised land. This verse tells us that rebellion and disobedience against God has its consequences. In the case of the Israelites who disobeyed Him, they were not allowed to enter the promised land. The verse also reminds us that rebellion and disobedience is a serious issue and should not be taken lightly. Let us submit to God and His teachings and obey His commandments to us. We can always trust God, because He will fulfill what He has said. He fulfilled his sworn statement to a generation of Israelites who disobeyed Him and He also fulfilled His promise to Israel to lead them to the promised Land. - Commentary by: Jeremy B. Trio
