Today's Verse

"and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."– John 8:32

Fear, anger, pride, corrupt philosophy, and every other sin are imprisoning because they make our minds captive to a distorted, and therefore, untrue reality. Yet God in His grace grants us freedom by giving us the spiritual ammunition to deal with every lie we are faced with through His Word. Jesus warns us, though, that if we do not continue in His Word, we will not know the truth and we will become imprisoned by sin. That is why it is so important to have meaningful time in the Word regularly! Meaningful time in the Word begins with quieting everything in and around you, praying humbly for God to grant you understanding of His Word, and then taking the time to meditate on, memorize, and learning how to apply what you read to your life. If you are not in the habit of doing so already, start a new regimen of meaningful time in the Word each day. - Commentary by: Steffanie Howard

Today's Prayer

Lord, my mind is so easily susceptible to lies that keep me stuck in a distorted reality. Show me where I need to change and help me to be set free by Your Word. Amen.
